Sign up for the Apple Developer Program
Enroll your organization in the Apple Developer Program so your company can publish apps on the App Store under your legal entity name.
What you will accomplish
You will enroll your organization in the Apple Developer Program (opens in a new tab) so Apple lists your legal company name as the seller on the App Store. Membership is billed by Apple ($99 USD per year in most regions; local currency may apply).

When to use this guide
- You need an Organization Apple Developer membership (company name as App Store seller).
- You are preparing a customer app on the Apple App Store under your facility’s company name.
- You do not yet have an approved Apple Developer Program membership for your legal entity.
Before you start
Gather these items Apple checks during organization enrollment (opens in a new tab):
- An Apple Account with two-factor authentication turned on. Prefer a company-controlled account (for example ops or admin email), not a personal employee Apple Account that may leave with that person.
- Legal first and last names on that Apple Account (no alias, nickname, or company name in the name fields — Apple says that delays approval).
- Someone with legal binding authority to act as Account Holder (owner/founder, executive, senior project lead, or an employee granted that authority).
- Your organization’s legal entity name exactly as on business records — not a DBA, fictitious name, trade name, or branch. Apple does not accept those for Organization enrollment.
- A D-U-N-S Number for that legal entity (look up or request one (opens in a new tab); free in most jurisdictions; not required for government entities).
- A work email on your organization’s domain (not a personal Gmail/Yahoo-style address).
- A public, working website whose domain is associated with your organization. Social-only pages, empty “parked” domains, or registrar placeholder pages are rejected.
- A physical business address Apple can verify (P.O. boxes are not accepted for individual enrollment; use your legal entity address for organizations).
Step 1: Confirm or request your D-U-N-S Number
- Look up your organization
Open Apple’s D-U-N-S Number (opens in a new tab) page and use the lookup to see whether Dun & Bradstreet already assigned your legal entity a number.
Expected result: You see a nine-digit D-U-N-S Number, or you are offered a way to request one.
- Request one if needed
Submit your legal entity name, headquarters and mailing addresses, and work contact details. Have business registration documents ready — D&B may contact you.
Expected result: You receive a D-U-N-S Number (often within about 5 business days). Wait for Apple to sync D&B data (often up to about 2 business days) before continuing enrollment.
- Match the legal entity name
Use the same legal name Apple and D&B will see (for example ABC Company, Inc.), not your marketing brand or DBA.
Why this matters: If Apple shows “Your organization is not listed as a legal entity,” the D&B record may list a sole proprietorship or an unverified status. Sole proprietors enroll as Individual; true legal entities should contact D&B with registration documents to fix the listing.
Step 2: Start enrollment

Option A — Enroll on the web
- Open enrollment
Go to Apple Developer Program enrollment (opens in a new tab) and sign in with the Apple Account your company will use as Account Holder.
Expected result: Apple shows enrollment options for Individual or Organization.
- Choose Organization
Select Organization. Enter your legal entity name exactly as it appears on D-U-N-S / business records.
Expected result: Apple asks for D-U-N-S, work contact details, website, and binding-authority confirmation.
- Submit for verification
Complete Apple’s prompts. If you are not the owner/founder, you may need a reference who can confirm your authority. Apple may also ask for notarized business documents depending on your region (enrollment support (opens in a new tab)).
Expected result: Your information is submitted. Organizations typically wait for Apple Developer Support to verify details and email next steps before you can pay.
Option B — Enroll in the Apple Developer app
Use one device for the whole process (iPhone, iPad, or Mac that meets Apple’s requirements). Install the latest Apple Developer app (opens in a new tab), keep iCloud signed in, and use an Apple Account with two-factor authentication.
- Start in the Account tab
Open the Apple Developer app → Account → sign in → Enroll Now. Review benefits and continue.
Expected result: Apple asks you to enter Account Holder information and verify identity.
- Verify identity
Enter your legal first and last name and phone number. When prompted, photograph a government-issued photo ID (passport in most regions; some regions also accept a driver’s license). Apple uses this for identity verification and fraud prevention (app enrollment help (opens in a new tab)).
Expected result: Identity verification completes on that device.
- Enter organization details
Provide entity type, legal entity name, D-U-N-S Number, headquarters address and phone, website, and signing-authority confirmation (plus a contact who can verify your authority if needed). Nonprofits, accredited educational institutions, and government entities may request a fee waiver if they meet Apple’s requirements.
Expected result: Apple reviews your submission and emails next steps when you can finish enrollment and pay.
Step 3: Agree to terms and pay Apple
- Wait for verification email (organizations)
For Organization enrollment, Apple verifies your information first. Individuals can often review the license agreement and pay during the same session; organizations usually pay only after Apple emails that verification is complete (Completing your enrollment (opens in a new tab)).
Expected result: You receive an email with instructions to finish membership.
- Accept the license agreement
Agree to the Apple Developer Program License Agreement.
Expected result: Apple lets you continue to purchase.
- Purchase membership
Pay the annual fee ($99 USD per membership year in most regions; price and currency appear during checkout). In the Apple Developer app, membership is an auto-renewable subscription until cancelled. Apple Account gift-card balances are generally not accepted (exception: developers based in India, per Apple).
Expected result: You receive a purchase confirmation email. Check enrollment status by signing in at developer.apple.com (opens in a new tab) with the same Apple Account. If you have no confirmation within about 24 hours after purchase, contact Apple Developer Support (opens in a new tab) with your Enrollment ID.
What success looks like
- Your Apple Account shows an active Apple Developer Program membership for your organization.
- The App Store seller name will be your legal entity (for example ABC Company, Inc.), not a personal name or DBA.
- You can sign in to App Store Connect (opens in a new tab) with that team.
- On Membership details (opens in a new tab), you can see your Team ID (10 characters).
Common issues
| What you see | What to do |

| Enrollment delayed / name rejected | Fix the Apple Account so first and last name are your legal names — not a nickname or company name. |
| “Not listed as a legal entity” | Confirm D&B lists a corporation, LLC, partnership, etc. Sole proprietors enroll as Individual. Contact D&B with registration docs if the legal status is wrong. |
| Website rejected | Use a real public site on your company domain — not social-only links or a parked/registrar page. |
| Work email rejected | Use an address on your organization’s domain. |
| Need company name as seller but enrolled as Individual | Organization enrollment is required. Apple notes you can contact them (opens in a new tab) about converting an individual account to an organization account when eligible. |
| Still waiting after purchase | Sign in to check status; after ~24 hours with no confirmation, contact Apple with your Enrollment ID. |
After enrollment (Car Storage Software)
Enrollment alone does not publish your customer app. Next:
- Accept any open agreements in App Store Connect (opens in a new tab).
