Flexible recurring plan start dates
Start recurring plans in the past, today, or the future—with a monthly billing day and a preview of what is due now versus the next full charge.
Storage agreements rarely start “next Monday at midnight”—they start when the car actually arrived, or on the first of next month.
Why we built it
Billing staff often need recurring plans that backdate to move-in day, start today at the counter, or begin on a future date after a customer finishes onboarding. Flexible recurring plan start dates expands the Schedule step in Add recurring so you pick the real start, choose the monthly billing day, and read a preview of what is due immediately versus when the next full charge runs. Fewer manual invoices to “true up” the first month, and less guesswork before you click Add recurring.

What you can do
- Run Add recurring on Payments → Recurring and complete Plan, Payment, and Schedule.
- Set a start in the past, today, or on a future date to match when storage or membership actually begins.
- Pick the monthly billing day that matches your facility’s practice (for example the 1st or the 15th).
- Use Review to confirm first charge timing, then choose Notify the customer? when email should go out with the first invoice or payment request.
How it fits your day
A Future status on the list usually means the start date has not arrived yet—normal for move-ins scheduled ahead. If the next date looks wrong, reopen the plan and verify start date and billing day before changing payment method. Pair with Flexible invoice finalization and scheduled charges when the first period needs a one-off charge pattern.
